AFSA Board Member since September 2018, undertaking the role of Chair in 2020

Andrew Chivell is based at Cobden (considered the dairy capital of Australia) in South West Victoria.

His father, Bill Chivell (dec) and business partner,  Dick Webber,  started Webber & Chivell Fertilisers around 40 years ago and Andrew has been involved in the business for 31 years.

Webber & Chivell’s main clientele are dairy farmers, but they also work with those running beef and sheep operations.  This means they are able to offer a complete service including agronomy services, fertiliser spreading, field bin deliveries, transport and sales of fertiliser, seed and chemical.

Andrew believes that the great thing about being an AFSA member is the networking with like minded businesses and visiting their sites.

“ It’s great to learn from others and have the opportunity to share information”

Where do you see the fertiliser industry, in particular the services sector, in the next 10 years?

“It is important for our fertiliser services industry to have accredited machinery and staff.  At some point it will be compulsory for us to provide proof of placement of nutrients and therefore the agriculture industry will be told to only use accredited operators.

AFSA is in a perfect position to lead these requirements going forward.”
